La Malpenga ( 32 km away) Nowadays administered by the FAI, the Italian Environment Fund, this historic manor house known as a dimora patrizia was built in the second half of the 9th Century. The name Malpenga can be traced back to its proprietors in the 15th Century, when the manor consisted of two farms surrounded by orchards and vineyards.
In the 19th Century it was renovated into a villa by Count Giuseppe Fantone of Turin. Today, its ample vegetable gardens, apple orchard, and wine cellar, maintained in honor of the manor’s agrarian history, have become key attractions.
