(starting point 15 km away) – This road takes the same paths as medieval pilgrims who went from France to Rome and then to Puglia, which was the place of embankment for the Crusades. The Province of Biella is one of the founding members of the European Association of the Vie Francigena, with the municipalities of Cavaglià, Roppolo and Viverone remaining an integral part of the Via Francigena’s route. From the website of the via Francigena (www.viefrancigene.org/it), it is possible to download maps, guides and GPS tracks of the itinerary on foot and by bike, the list of hostels and accommodation facilities, and updated information concerning the route.
